Challenging Times in Syria
How are we to respond to the recent massacres in Syria and the ongoing daily violence? How can we stand by and watch this violence against a nation’s own citizens? How should we react as members of the church? What is the best hope for the Christians of Syria? What is the best hope for the majority population of Syria? For the former it may be the status quo. For the latter it may be change.
I think they call that being on the horns of a dilemma, or between a rock and a hard place. Why? The status quo is not an option with the ongoping level of death and brutality; this cannot be an acceptable level of violence; yet the alternative seems even more uncertain and frightening.
Our only hope, and their only hope, is to cry out to God to come and bring transformation and healing to their land, healing the divisions, healing hurting, angry broken hearts; healing and reconciliation that can only come through the cross of Christ. Ask the Father, hallowed be his name, today for his Kingdom to come and His will to be done in Syria, as it is in heaven.
