Kate and Rachel's N. Africa Adventure

For Kate and Rachel*, going on a short-term Prayer/Vision trip to North Africa was their first time in a Muslim-majority country. Here are some of their reflections on the experience:

Being in N. Africa gave me a completely new perspective of the world. It was a place full of different and wonderful people. It has a vibrance. And no matter who we met - whether in cities or the villages - we were shown kindness and respect to a whole other level!

 

The most memorable experience for me was spending a day and night with a family who lived in the mountains. We shared music and food together, and even though there was a language barrier, we felt immediately welcomed. The Muslim family showed so many great characteristics that are from God and my prayer was simply that they would gain the knowledge to know who Jesus really is.

Having the opportunity to meet local believers was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip! The amazing story of one man in particular, who was from a Muslim background but had come to faith in Christ, made me realise how much I take freedom of speech and Christian fellowship for granted. This man’s persistence in following Jesus, despite persecution, was humbling and inspiring. 

​

When hearing of God’s faithfulness in sustaining, protecting and guiding him throughout his walk, many Psalms came to mind, reminding me of God’s infinitude and omniscience. God showed his faithfulness to the writers of the Psalms, and He still does to us today, whether we live in N. Ireland or in N. Africa!
