THE YAWO OF MOZAMBIQUE
About the country
Mozambique, officially the Republic of Mozambique, is a country located in Southeast Africa bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east.
​
From the 1500s the country was colonised by the Portuguese and only gained independence in 1975, but the official language still remains Portuguese, with other local languages such as Tsonga, Makhuwa, Sena, Chichewa, and Swahili being prominent also.
Officially it​ is majority Christian country and people can even still get missionary visas to serve there! But there is a significant minority of Muslim people groups with little or no access to the Good News of Jesus in their heart language.

How to pray

Give thanks to God for several teams serving among the Yawo - a Muslim people group in northern Mozambique (also found in Malawi and Tanzania).

Praise God for some local men and women coming to faith and being baptised in the last few years!

Pray for the 'Discovery Bible Study' groups that meet weekly to discuss the stories of Jesus. Pray that God would open up more hearts to His love.

Pray for provision so the team can continue to install fresh water pumps in local villages, run a school and give out more solar powered audio Bibles.
